At first, meditation was very difficult for me. I couldn’t quiet my mind to save my life, and I just didn’t understand why being still was so important. I kept practicing in hopes to find out what everyone else was talking about.

Now, I honestly don’t know what I would do without meditation in my life. It’s my rock, my savior, my go-to. Any time I feel stressed out, anxiety filled or stuck on something, I sit in meditation. Even if I’m hurt by someone, or something, I sit down in meditation in order to heal myself, forgive, and let go.

I use visualizations for releasing whatever I don’t want, and for growing more of what I do want in my life.

Sometimes I just feel the strong connection I have with my inner guide – I literally picture two of me, sitting down having a glass of wine, shootin the shit, just straight up, loving each other. ( the more time I spend with her, the more ideas and next steps she gives me. She’s actually my guardian angel)

I use energy medicine techniques for releasing pain, sadness and hurt if something upsetting happens, and I can instantly shift my feelings, to feel grateful and happy again. (more coming on this later!)

And when I just need stillness in my life, I close my eyes and I see myself on a quiet mountain top, just sitting and taking in the amazing view. I can feel the warm breeze and the sun on my face… that’s when bliss takes over J

STEP 1) PRACTICE – for at least 5 minutes every other day, or once a week, or twice a day. Whatever you can fit in, just do it. At first, it helped me to put in my headphones and listen to meditation music or binaural beats on youtube. At first, you may not feel any connection to anything, and you might get fed up. But please, just keep going. It’s different for everyone, have patience and trust that eventually you’ll get the hang of it.

STEP 2) PRACTICE DEEP BREATHING – I know this sounds trivial, but if you do it with intention, magic happens! There’s actually a parasympathetic response in the nervous system when you breathe out for a longer time than you breathe in. It shuts off our fight or flight response we have when we are under stress. It basically tells your mind, body and soul to chill the fuck out, everything’s gonna be okay. So, we need to practice this daily. Breathe innnnnn (feeling the anger you have at the asshole that just cut you off in traffic), and breatheeee ooooouuuuuuuutttttttttttttttttttt…..releeeassssssssssse it off your chest … who really careeeeessssssss, did you die? No.

STEP 3) PRACTICE SELF CARE – I also love to meditate in the bath. If you feel like you cant get to that zen space of meditation, a bath will help. Get out some candles, put on some meditation music, and relax in a bubble bath. (tea or wine is required) This will at least get your body into a more relaxed state before you try to quiet your mind.

I hope these steps help you in creating your most zen life ever! Follow me on instagram for daily inspiration, and more tips on living your dream life.
